Our Baumkuchen, which we bake in the Cottbus style, is an excellent specialty that is very popular worldwide. For 160 years, we have been baking the “King of Cakes” using a secret recipe that has been passed down from generation to generation and earned us the title “Royal Purveyor to the Court”.
Our special recipe, which, among other things, uses the finest Marzipan and the finest spices have ensured consistently high quality for a century and a half. The fine mass is applied in many thin layers to a rotating roller and baked over an open flame. This creates the characteristic layered structure that resembles the annual rings of a tree.
The Baumkuchen is then sealed with apricot jam and covered with icing or couverture.
